Every piece created in the studio is shaped with intention and care. This guide offers a quiet, clear overview of the materials we use, how they age, and how to choose the option that feels right for you.
Jewellery is made to be worn and enjoyed. Over time, all materials develop signs of wear and ageing through normal use. These changes are part of the character of the material and are not considered faults or craftsmanship issues.
Metals & Finishes
Keepsake Stones
The keepsake stone is created using a permanent bonding process that safely secures your inclusion within the piece.
Each stone is individually made by hand and will naturally contain subtle variations in pattern, texture, and distribution. No two keepsake stones will ever be identical.
Over time, resin-based keepsake stones may develop gentle signs of ageing, including slight softening of colour, subtle changes in appearance, or minor surface wear. These changes occur gradually and are a natural characteristic of the material.
With appropriate care, keepsake stones remain stable and beautiful for many years.
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is a classic, durable metal with a soft, natural shine. It may gently darken over time due to exposure to air and skin, but it can be easily polished back to brightness with a soft cloth.
Most Moments Remain pieces are set in sterling silver as standard — clean, timeless, and designed to last with simple care.
Best for: those who love a timeless, understated look.
Gold Plated Silver (White, Yellow, Rose)
Gold‑plated pieces are made from a solid sterling silver base, coated in a thin layer of gold. They are available as an alternative finish on most pieces.
Plating naturally softens over time with wear — especially on rings and bracelets, which experience more frequent contact with skin and surfaces. This softening is not a flaw; it is simply the nature of plated jewellery.
The rate of wear varies depending on how often the piece is worn, exposure to moisture, and individual skin chemistry.
Best for: those who love the warmth of gold at a more accessible price point.
Other Metal Settings
A small selection of our earring settings are made from a copper base, finished in a silver‑coloured coating. They are zinc‑ and nickel‑free, making them comfortable for most wearers.
These pieces are our most accessible option, created so that everyone who wishes to carry a keepsake can do so, regardless of budget.
As with all coated metals, the surface may soften gently over time.
Best for: meaningful keepsakes at an accessible price point.
Solid Gold — Enquire Separately
Solid gold settings are available on selected jewellery for those who want the most durable and long-lasting option available.
Unlike plated finishes, solid gold retains its colour, wears exceptionally well, and can be enjoyed for generations with appropriate care.
Solid gold is not listed as a standard option within the shop. If you are interested in a solid gold piece, please get in touch before placing your order and I will be happy to discuss available designs and pricing.
Best for: heirloom-quality jewellery intended for long-term daily wear.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is a highly durable metal with excellent resistance to tarnishing, corrosion, and everyday wear.
Unlike plated finishes, stainless steel does not rely on a surface coating and requires very little maintenance. It retains its appearance well over time and is particularly suited to jewellery intended for regular wear.
Because of its strength and durability, stainless steel is often used for memorial urn jewellery and other keepsake pieces designed to accompany everyday life.
Best for: practical everyday wear, memorial urn jewellery, and those seeking a low-maintenance option.
